Although you might call them "ugly ducklings" when they are born, few animals are as synonymous with elegance and beauty as the swan. One of the more aggressive breeds of large birds, swans can be found in flooded grasslands, wetlands, swamps, lakes, and rivers in temperate environments. Swans mate for life and stay primarily with their mate during the breeding season, preferring to socialize in larger groups the rest of the year. Whether you're admiring them from afar or running from the one you got too close to, swans are a sight to behold.
